| · back | The ‘making’ and ‘unmaking’ of differences On curatorial responsibilities Thanks to the efforts of feminism we can let go of many assumptions and illusions that might have given us the idea of control, but that also burdened us with unproductive categories and dualisms we can very well do without. It is in this perspective that I want to introduce a few examples of others’ and my own attempts to use the exhibition space as a space of trial and error, where a continuous dialogue allows us to go beyond fixed notions of identity and difference. I will talk about Ik + de Ander. Art and the Human Condition briefly and will then focuss on the exhibition I am currently preparing: Niet Normaal * Difference on Display. This exhibition is not ‘about’ but has the ambition to performatively ‘make’ and ‘unmake’ differences. It includes issues of health, (dis)ablebodiedness, and biogenetic citizenship.
